Lunch & Learn: Preserving Your Land

Wednesday, February 25, 2026 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (EST)

Description

If you’re a landowner thinking about the future, you may have asked a simple (but heavy) question:
How do I make sure this land stays what it is—without creating headaches for the next generation?

Land trusts can play an important role in answering that question, but what they actually do—and how tools like conservation easements work—aren’t always clear.

We put together a short, plain-English piece that walks through:

  • what a land trust does (and doesn’t do),
  • how conservation easements can help preserve land over the long term, and
  • how landowners and families can think about these tools as part of future planning.

This isn’t an expert lecture. It’s a starting point—for landowners, families, and anyone who’s just beginning to explore how to protect land and plan ahead.

If you’re curious, this may be a helpful place to start.
