Join us for the enchanting Firefly Festival held on the first two Saturdays in June (1st & 8th). Attendance is exclusive to lottery winners, who will receive an email and it will be announced on our NEW Discover Greeneville page, Discover Greeneville Instagram, and GCP Facebook page. Limited parking is available, accessible only to those selected via lottery. Each vehicle/lottery ticket admits up to 7 people. If awarded, admission fee is $25 per car before May 24th 2024.
Lottery registration is open for firefly viewing on June 1 or June 8; please commit to your chosen date, as switching is not permitted, or apply to both dates if you can make it to either date. Multiple entries are allowed at $2 each. There are no refunds, transfers, rainchecks or changes to the vehicle registration. Lottery winners must be present in the vehicle and must provide photo identification which matches the name of the lottery winner before vehicle is admitted to the parking area. You may attempt to submit multiple times by listing off your name multiple time with number variations. Ex. John Doe 1, John Doe 2, John Doe 3.
Experience acoustic bluegrass music, Cherokee National Forest interpreters (description of biology and ecosystem of fireflies, why and how they light up, what they are communicating, etc.), and the mesmerizing firefly light show from 9-10PM. Departure is permitted after 10PM to preserve the fireflies' natural environment. Bright lights disrupt their flight, so entry is prohibited after 7:30PM.
Registration, including the silent auction art items, is stationed at the Unaka Ranger Station. The last registration is at 7:30PM; latecomers will be denied entry. Cellphones must remain in vehicles, and all lights must be off; red light flashlights will be provided for safety. Lottery winners will be notified of location and additional details. By purchasing a $2 lottery ticket, you acknowledge the possibility of not winning and agree to the $25 admission fee if selected. Failure to pay by May 24 forfeits your spot.
